Leeds resume their survival push at Manchester United on Monday night, with fresh injuries leaving several players doubtful or ruled out. Their FA Cup quarter-final win at West Ham appears to have come at a cost, though a Whites regular is expected to return.
Michael Carrick’s Red Devils have not played since a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on the Friday before the international break, when Junior Kroupi’s penalty denied victory. By Monday’s 8pm kick-off at Old Trafford they will have gone 23 days without a game. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, there are three out and seven doubts across the squads.
For United, Benjamin Sesko is a doubt after a fitness issue that led to his withdrawal from March internationals, though he could be available. Lisandro Martinez has missed the last five matches with a calf problem and is thought to be close, but he is still a doubt.
Matthijs de Ligt is a major doubt, effectively out, having not played since November with a back injury and with no timescale given. Bryan Mbeumo is expected back for the Red Devils, though still a doubt after going off at half-time at Bournemouth and withdrawing from Cameroon duty.
For Leeds, Gabriel Gudmundsson was a surprise absentee at West Ham because of a minor groin issue and was not risked. Joe Rodon rolled his ankle early in the second half and was forced off. Daniel Farke hopes he will be fine and says the gap before Monday allows assessment.
