Manchester United started life under new head coach Ruben Amorim with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday, and the Portuguese revealed after the game that he could not focus on training during his first week in charge of the Red Devils.

The 39-year-old was inundated with interviews all week from the media, and he wants the Old Trafford club to limit requests going forward so as to allow him to concentrate on his job.

Man United were lucky to leave Portman Road with a point and they have Andre Onana to thank following his key saves which prevented the hosts from taking the lead.

Amorim had just a few training sessions with the squad, spending most of the time in interviews, and it would take a while for him to fully get his ideas across to the players.

Changing playing patterns and managers during the season is always tricky, and the Man United boss will have to come up with new ideas and get the needed results going forward given that there is no break between now and March.

The players can expect limited off-days for the time being as Amorim will be keen to get them firing on all cylinders, which would only happen once he gets to implement his own pattern.

Man United return to action on Thursday when they host Bodoe/Glimt in the Europa League before hosting Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

A trip to Arsenal follows three days later, with nine games to be played in December, and Amorim has a huge job on his hands.

Some transfer activities are expected in January, while most of the injured players will return to full fitness in the coming days and weeks to give the Portuguese much-needed boosts, and ending 2024-25 impressively will remain top of his plans despite taking the job almost halfway through the campaign.
