Man Utd are reportedly interested in making a surprise move for West Ham United attacker Crysencio Summerville in the summer transfer window.
The Hammers face losing several of their key players after suffering relegation from the Premier League last season, with the Red Devils also interested in signing midfielder Mateus Fernandes.
Summerville, who scored five goals in 31 appearances last season, is currently away with the Netherlands national team at the FIFA World Cup, where he scored with a stunning finish in the 2-2 draw with Japan on Sunday.
According to The Athletic, Man Utd are “paying serious attention” to Summerville as potential signing ahead of next season.
The Red Devils rank the winger “highly among multiple options” they are looking at in case they choose to recruit for that position.
Man Utd have “enquired about his situation”, but will be “aware” that the 24-year-old is expected to cost as much as £50 million this summer.

It’s claimed that the future of Marcus Rashford will have a bearing on whether or not they make a move for Summerville. The England forward will return to Old Trafford after the World Cup after spending last season on loan with Barcelona. The La Liga club chose not to activate the €30m buy option in his loan deal.
Rashford could return to Barcelona or join another club in Europe, while a number of Premier League teams have “expressed interest”. However, his “preference” is to see out the final two years of his contract rather than join another English side. United are also intent on a permanent sale rather than another loan.
A new winger, though, is a “lower priority” than central midfield, for which Man Utd have already signed Ederson from Atalanta for £34 million. They are now “focusing their efforts” on Fernandes and are said to be advancing in talks with the 21-year-old’s agent, Jorge Mendes. West Ham want at least £80 million for the Portugal international.
United are also considering Alex Scott, Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali, Sander Berge and Adam Wharton as alternative options.
Meanwhile, Daniel Forbes has joined Dundee United on a two-year deal following his departure from West Ham. The 22-year-old spent the last two seasons out on loan with at Bristol Rovers and Northampton and didn’t make a senior appearance for the east London outfit before being released at the end of last season.
