Mathjis de Ligt and Amad Diallo both took part in team training ahead of Man Utd’s Europa League semi-final first leg with Athletic Club.

Defender de Ligt has been absent since the start of April after picking up an ankle injury, missing both of the Europa League quarter-final legs against Lyon.

But he could return to the squad when United travel to Spain in a huge boost for boss Ruben Amorim.

And the United head coach could also welcome back Amad to his squad in the near future.

The attacker was also part of United’s open training session in front of the media before making the trip to Bilbao.

Amad has been out since February after suffering an ankle ligament injury and there were fears he could miss the entirety of this season.

But he now looks set to return before the end of the campaign.

The Ivory Coast international had been in fine form prior to his injury, scoring nine goals and setting up eight in all competitions this season.

It comes after Amorim revealed the duo were “near” to returning, speaking ahead of his side’s draw with Bournemouth last Sunday.

But Diogo Dalot will again miss out with a calf injury which could keep him out for the rest of the season.

Speaking on the defender’s injury, Amorim said: “There is that possibility [he will miss the remainder of the season] but I don’t know.

“We will check week by week because he works really hard. He can recover quite well, so we’ll see.”

Lisandro Martinez and Joshua Zirkzee also remain sidelined with long-term injuries.

Fellow defender Ayden Heaven, meanwhile, was also not in training as he continues to recover from injury.

And midfielder Toby Collyer trained away from the group as part of his individual recovery.
