Man Utd defender Patrick Dorgu has admitted that he was left shocked by the departure of Rasmus Hojlund in the summer transfer window.

The striker joined Napoli on a season-long loan on Deadline Day. The deal includes an obligation to buy which will see the Serie A champions will pay £38 million to make the move permanent next summer should they qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The decision to offload Hojlund came after the Red Devils signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for around £74 million.

Dorgu, who was an unused on Friday night as Denmark drew with Scotland in a World Cup qualifier, opened up on his international teammate’s move.

“That’s how it is in football,” the wing-back said. “You never know when it’s your turn to move on.

“We knew that it would happen to Christian [Eriksen], but it was perhaps a bigger shock that Rasmus had to move on. I talked to him a lot during the process and could sense which way it was going.

“Hopefully, we will now see each other every time on the national team.”

Hojlund was one of several high-profile players who secured an Old Trafford exit this past summer as Ruben Amorim looks to mould the squad in his image.

Antony joined Real Betis on Deadline Day, while Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho also moved onto new clubs. Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof were released at the end of their contracts.
