It has been another season to remember for Glasgow’s green and white, with a fourth consecutive league title, the 55th in the club’s history, secured in emphatic fashion.
And after the trophy is held aloft by the Celts at Paradise tomorrow, it will join the League Cup in the Celtic Park trophy cabinet, and everyone of a Celtic persuasion will hope that the Scottish Cup is being placed in to the cabinet next Saturday evening after the final against Aberdeen.
For Brendan Rodgers, this season’s league title represents his 11th honour as Celtic manager, and, speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow’s match against St Mirren, Brendan reflected on another season of success for the Celts.
Brendan said: “It’s been very satisfying season as a manager, I have to say.
“Right the way through the pre-season I thought we set a really high benchmark and we were able to continue with that.
‘We’re here to win and we’re here to win in the best possible way we can.’
“We’ve seen the growth of the team and how we’ve performed consistently. We’ve stuck with the idea and structure.
“Any good team is always made up of talent, the system and a real positive energy, and that’s what we’ve tried to demonstrate all season.”
It is set to be a special day at a sun-soaked Celtic Park tomorrow, where Celtic’s most decorated player, James Forrest will bring the league trophy on to the pitch after the match and the Celtic faithful will have the opportunity to celebrate yet another green and white triumph.
And ahead of tomorrow’s match, Brendan Rodgers explained that, whilst the post-match celebrations will be special, the champions have work to do in the 90-minutes which precede the trophy lift.
“It’s a great reward for the sacrifice that so many people have put in,” he said. “Especially the players over the course of the season.
“So you get that at the end of the game, but in the actual game we still have targets that we want to achieve. It should be an amazing day.
“We want to perform, and we know it’ll be a tough game. We played St Mirren last season on trophy day as well and we only won right at the end.
“For this game, we’ve got a real focus to continue with our performance levels that we had the other night and let’s see where it takes us in the end.
