Celtic FC Women signed off the 2025/26 season with a Scottish Cup Final triumph, beating Rangers 1-0 at Hampden thanks to a Morgan Cross goal.
And despite playing much of the second-half with 10 players following Emma Lawton’s dismissal, the Hoops remained resolute to see out the game and lift the trophy.
Not surprisingly, manager Grant Scott was delighted with the Scottish Cup success and the character his team showed at the National Stadium.
Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, the Hoops boss said: “We’ve had to dig in today, and during the season we’ve questioned each other on our capability to do that.
"So see it live today, especially going down to 10 players, we’ve dug in and shown that we’re a team that can defend.
“We had to ride our luck at times but I’m delighted for the playing group. I thought everyone stood up when asked, and thoroughly deserved after an incredible cup run.
““The goal to put us 1-0 up was a nice bit of quality from us and I thought we’d just grown into the game at that point, and all things considered, I’m just over the moon for the players.
“By definition, the last game of the season is always a changing moment for any squad, and players are going to come and go, so for them to go and put on that performance in their last game together shows what it means to be in a team.
“It’s really special to be involved in a winning team, it’s a brilliant moment for them and, quite rightly, they should celebrate that.
“Success is not defined just by winning one cup and my mentality is that success for us will look like us improving every year and competing for all the trophies again every year and continually winning them.
“So we need to put the plans and foundations in place over the summer to make us better again next year.”
