In a recent report, Gazzetta dello Sport mentioned that Manchester City are locked in a three-way battle for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. It is believed that the Mancunian giants would have to rival Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to sign the Italian midfield ace in this summer transfer window.
Tonali enjoyed a good run of form at the Tyneside club after he produced a series of influential displays at the heart of Eddie Howe’s midfield in the previous campaign. The 26-year-old participated in 53 matches for the Magpies last season, scoring three goals and picking up seven assists in all competitions.
The Italy international is currently among the best holding midfielders in the Premier League. Therefore, it is no surprise that Man City are keen on signing him later this year.
His current contract at St. James’ Park will expire in the summer of 2028. Hence, the Mancunian giants would have to launch a big offer if they are serious about recruiting Tonali this off-season.

Tonali is a tough-tackling midfielder who can scan the danger well to make some crucial interceptions for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a tidy passer from midfield.
The Italian sensation can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third. Tonali can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from midfield. He has already proven himself to be a consistent performer in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Mancunian club.
Tonali would add more quality and depth to Man City’s midfield. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team place at the Etihad Stadium next season.
At 26, Tonali has his best years ahead of him and would be an excellent acquisition for the Mancunian giants to pull off this summer. He will also help Man City challenge for some major silverware in the future. Tonali would be well worth the fight, so the Mancunian outfit should focus on stepping up their pursuit of him later this year.
