Manchester City head coach Andree Jeglertz has provided an injury update on Lauren Hemp ahead of his side’s Women’s League Cup clash with Everton.
Hemp was forced off in the first-half of Manchester City’s 5-1 victory over Tottenham in the Women’s Super League.
The England star appeared emotional at the end of the game as she appeared on the pitch with her foot in a protective boot.
It is hoped she won’t be out of action for too long, after missing more than five months with a knee injury last season.
Andree Jeglertz said Manchester City are awaiting scan results in an injury update on Lauren Hemp.
Wednesday’s clash with Everton will come too soon for Hemp, but Jeglertz said it was too early to provide a full assessment.
He said: “We don’t know 100% yet. We will see today and tomorrow after the results.
“Yeah, that was what happened [her ankle] in the game. But what it means in how long it can be [out injured] is such a big difference from player to player and [based] on the injury.”
In regards to the Everton game, he added: “I doubt that [she will play] but that’s not my job to say because we don’t have the result of the scan.
We need to see what happens in the coming days, but it doesn’t seem likely.”
Lauren Hemp suffered her ankle injury after an awkward collision with Tottenham’s Jess Naz.
The 25-year-old looked to be in some discomfort after her awkward landing.
She was replaced by Kerolin on the 22-minute mark, and looked to be in pain as she hobbled off the pitch.
Hemp was seen again towards the end of the match, wearing a protective boot. She was comforted by some of her Manchester City teammates who approached her after the final whistle.
The winger made just 10 appearances in the WSL last season after suffering a knee injury which kept her out for over five months.
She returned in time to feature for England at Euro 2025.
Manchester City face Everton in a Women’s League Cup group game on Wednesday, before facing London City Lionesses in the Women’s Super League this weekend.
Jeglertz said his side have a clean bill of health, other than Hemp, ahead of Wednesday’s League Cup tie.
Grace Clinton could make her first start after making her debut off the bench against Tottenham.
Following the game, Clinton said her debut for the club ‘felt good’ after scoring against her former side.
