The transfer fee is reportedly set around €3.5 million to €3.8 million, with the 34-year-old World Cup winner agreeing to a two-year contract through 2028 at the Etihad Stadium.

Following the departure of James Trafford, new manager Enzo Maresca has prioritized adding a reliable, battle-tested shot-stopper to provide seasoned cover and competition within the squad.

Geronimo Rulli set to return for second stint

During his first spell in North West England, he was immediately loaned back to Real Sociedad before making a permanent switch to Spain without registering an official competitive appearance for the Premier League side.

Since then, the Argentine has forged an impressive European career, starring for Villarreal, where he saved the winning penalty in the 2021 Europa League final shootout against Manchester United and later representing Ajax and Marseille.

Man City summer signings 2026/27 so far

Rulli’s arrival adds to an active transfer window for Manchester City as they reshuffle their squad for the 2026/27 season.

City have secured the marquee £116 million signing of midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest to headline their summer recruitment drive.

With Rulli set to finalise his medical on Monday, City continue to refine their squad depth for another title charge.
