Norwich City and Manchester City are closing in on finalising a multi-million pound agreement that will take Jacob Wright to Carrow Road on a permanent deal.
The young midfield prospect has spent the second-half of the ongoing season on loan at the Championship club and has proven to be a popular figure among supporters and his teammates in that time.
A temporary exit from the Etihad Stadium came in light of largely limited on-field opportunities under Pep Guardiola, despite high-profile matchday squad appearances in the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, and Carabao Cup.
Wright’s route into the Manchester City first-team was only further blocked during the January transfer window when, despite injuries and fitness problems concerning fellow midfielders, club officials invested in Nico Gonzalez from FC Porto.
As such, the decision was taken by both player and club officials to find the right home for the young midfielder to excel and showcase his best abilities for a club attempting to play an attractive style of play.
Now, according to the information of MailSport’s Jack Gaughan, Jacob Wright is set to finalise a permanent move to Norwich City following on from his temporary switch agreed back in January.
It is detailed that the Manchester City Academy graduate, who has featured for Pep Guardiola across competitions this season, is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium for just over £2 million in the coming days.
Manchester City will not need a replacement for Wright and the midfielder’s sale will only benefit the club indirectly with his transfer fee reinvested into new names to strengthen Guardiola’s first-team options.
A number eight and number 10 are expected to be targeted by Etihad bosses this summer as they eye a spectacular deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders at present.
The former has spent a day in Manchester earlier this week as he took a tour of the club’s City Football Academy training facilities alongside his parents, and spoke with key figures within the Etihad Stadium operation.
