Manchester City have announced the signing of England youth international Jeremy Monga.

Monga joins City in a deal worth up to £12.5 million from Leicester City and has signed a five-year contract.

The 17-year-old becomes their third signing of the summer, following the arrival of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest and former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles.

Arsenal were initially the front-runners to sign the highly rated winger, but were reluctant to meet Leicester’s asking price, allowing City to sign him.

Manager Enzo Maresca was said to have played a crucial role in Monga’s signature, having known him from his time as Leicester head coach in 2023-24.

City Director of Football Hugo Viana expressed his excitement in winning the signature of the English forward.

“Jeremy is an exciting player who has already made huge strides in his young career,” Viana told mancity.com

“We were already very aware of him as a Club, and we have seen his ability first-hand from his time at Leicester. At 17 years old we feel he is only going to continue to improve and that this is the correct next step in his career.

“We look forward to supporting him on every step in his journey.”

Monga began his career at Coventry City before joining Leicester’s academy at the Under-9 level.

He rapidly progressed through the ranks, joining the U21s at the age of 15. He holds the record as the youngest Premier League 2 goalscorer after netting against Aston Villa in 2024.

Monga made his professional debut in the Foxes’ 3-0 Premier League home defeat to Newcastle United in April 2025, becoming the second-youngest player ever to feature in the competition.

He also holds the record as the youngest player to start a match for Leicester and the youngest goalscorer in the Championship.

Monga is expected to play more with the City academy next season as he continues his development, while featuring for the first team in domestic cup competitions.
