Manchester City are considering two different players who could potentially arrive in January in order to compensate for the absence of Rodri, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Rodri, who recently won the Ballon d’Or, suffered an ACL injury earlier this season. He will consequently miss the rest of the current campaign. The Spanish international is a big miss for Pep Guardiola’s side, and according to L’Équipe, the Cityzens are considering dipping into the transfer market in order to replace him in the short term.
One candidate is Torino’s Samuele Ricci (23), who is under contract until 2023, whilst Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, a compatriot of Rodri, is also being considered ahead of the January transfer window. Zubimendi’s contract with the La Liga side runs until 2027. It was Zubimendi who replaced Rodri in the Euro 2024 final against England back in July, a match that La Roja ultimately went on to win.
