Manchester City are among several clubs in England vying for the signature of Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha this summer, as per a new report.

The 25-year-old, who progressed through the ranks of the Manchester City academy before departing for VfL Wolfsburg in 2021, has established himself as a mainstay in the Dortmund midfield this season.

His technical security and box-to-box profile have caught the eye of several English heavyweights, with City joined by Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham in their admiration for the player.

According to a report by Bild, as translated and relayed by Bulinews, the Bundesliga outfit have now slapped a significant €70 million (£58.5 million) price-tag on the midfielder.

Having secured Nmecha’s services for €30 million in 2023, Dortmund are reportedly demanding more than double their initial investment to even consider a sale.

While Manchester City are always scouring the market for midfield reinforcements, particularly those with home-grown status – a move for Nmecha would represent a significant U-turn on a player they allowed to leave for free just five years ago.

However, the German international has undergone a drastic transformation since his days at the City Football Academy, maturing into a robust, elite-level operator. Recent developments have further fueled speculation regarding a Premier League return.

Nmecha recently switched his representation to a new agency, a move often interpreted as a precursor to a high-profile transfer – and his agent Tobi Alabi recently addressed the growing noise.

“The player is developing from season to season and when a player performs well, there is naturally always interest,” Alabi said in an interview with Bild. “Right now, the focus is very clear: Felix is determined to give everything for Borussia Dortmund.”

Despite the agent’s diplomatic stance, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl is reportedly working behind the scenes to tie Nmecha down to a new contract beyond 2028.

However, with the lure of the Premier League and a potential return to familiar surroundings in Manchester, City may well be tempted to test the German side’s resolve if the €70 million valuation proves negotiable.

Whether Etihad Stadium officials view a reunion as the right tactical fit remains to be seen but Nmecha’s name is certainly one to watch as the summer window approaches.
