A starring trio within Manchester City’s academy system are the subject of intense transfer interest this summer, according to new reports.
The targeted ambition towards the Etihad Stadium comes at a time of coaching transition within City’s development framework, following the appointment of Oliver Reiss as the Lead Coach of the Elite Development Squad (EDS).
While Manchester City academy officials work to sketch out defined pathways into Enzo Maresca’s first team squad, elite up and coming talents and their representatives are increasingly analysing alternative avenues.
With the premium on homegrown British talent at an all-time high, the City Football Academy (CFA) has transformed into a primary hunting ground for clubs looking to secure top-tier talent before market valuations become untouchable.
Now, according to the Manchester Evening News’ Simon Bajkowski, Manchester City’s starring Academy trio of Ryan McAidoo, Reigan Heskey, and Xavier Parker have all received interest from clubs looking to tempt them away from the City Football Academy this summer.
Andoni Iraola and Liverpool are said to be ‘leading the chase’ for 16-year-old forward Parker, while there is also reportedly interest from abroad as well as within the Premier League for McAidoo and Heskey.
Ryan McAidoo, the explosive 18-year-old winger, is widely viewed as one of the crown jewels of the CFA structure, and was personally singled out by Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak as the academy’s most exciting prospect.

The 18-year-old secured his senior Manchester City debut in the FA Cup against Exeter City last season, as well as receiving a well-deserved contract extension running until the summer of 2030.
Alongside him, Reigan Heskey – son of former England striker Emile Heskey – has seen his stock skyrocket after scoring a late match-winner against Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup final.
To counter pressure from Merseyside and abroad, Hugo Viana and Academy director Thomas Krucken will most likely formulate a series of lucrative scholarship upgrades and concrete developmental promises or targets.
With pre-season scheduled to kick off on July 20, club officials will be eager to resolve speculative distractions as soon as possible, ensuring the next generation remains entirely focused on breaking through under new manager Enzo Maresca.
