Officials at Manchester City recruiting for their Academy ranks have now turned attentions towards Bolivian prospects, according to reports.
The Etihad Stadium hierarchy have spent much of the past few months working closely with their global scouting network, and a particular emphasis on identifying emerging South American talents capable of transitioning quickly into the club’s development structure.
Following more recent success stories with young arrivals such as Claudio Echeverri from River Plate and Vitor Reis from Palmeiras, Manchester City appear intent on maintaining their focus in the region, particularly on versatile forwards and attacking midfielders.
As part of that strategy, City’s Academy recruitment team have been linked with numerous teenagers from across the continent in recent months, and the latest name to join that list comes from Bolivia.
According to the information of SportsBoom, Manchester City have now made enquiries over the acquisition of Club Deportivo Always Ready teenage forward, Moises Paniagua – who is expected to move to Europe next year.
The Bolivian teenager recently signed with renowned player agency, Sports Invest Limited, which could play a pivotal role in facilitating any deal, with Kia Joorabchian known for the roles he has played in the market moving players over to the United Kingdom.
The report also quotes a source on the matter, who explains, “The boy’s mother have had direct communications, prior to him going with Sports Invest. Manchester City have shown interests in having him, and such are likely going to be sustained next year.”
From the side of Manchester City and any potential signing of the forward, the report claims that the idea is to have Paniagua initially as part of the club’s development squad and then eased into first-team duties.
Still only 18 years-old, Paniagua has already made waves on the international stage, earning five senior caps for Bolivia since debuting in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Peru back in March.
His domestic form has mirrored his international rise, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 17 appearances for Always Ready so far this season, with the player viewed as an explosive and technically gifted forward, capable of operating across multiple attacking roles.
For Manchester City, Paniagua represents another opportunity to strengthen their global youth network with a player who may yet become the next breakout South American to progress through the Etihad system.
The club’s track record of developing young South American talent could provide a clear developmental roadmap, and should City press ahead with a move in 2026, the forward could arrive in Manchester via the City Football Group’s affiliate clubs, allowing for a smoother transition into European football.
Given his growing international reputation and the involvement of influential intermediaries, however, Manchester City are likely to face competition from several top-flight clubs across Europe in the coming months.
