Manchester City’s owners City Football Group are monitoring a highly-rated Argentine talent from the Primera Division in Argentina.
CFG are scouting in the Latin American market again as their latest interest has turned out to be Tomas Aranda, a highly-rated Argentine midfielder.
Recently, Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni also praised the youngster, calling him a “great talent”, signalling a bright future for the teenager for club and country.

However, CFG will have to be careful as several unnamed European clubs are also in the race and the competition will be intense for the midfielder.
As reported by Argentine outlet Boca Noticias and relayed by Sport Witness, the City Football Group have set their eyes on 18-year-old Boca Juniors midfielder Aranda.
Italian clubs Como and Parma are also interested with the goal of potentially signing the Argentina U20 international. Aranda has a release cluase worth approximately £15 million.
However, this is way off his actual market price according to Transfermarkt – which is approximately £700,000.
Despite the asking price, any direct moves to the Etihad Stadium might not be in the offing as CFG might first test Aranda with other ventures across Europe.
Scaloni already had high praises when asked about the midfielder in a press conference. “We’ve brought him in to train because we see what you see”, the manager told the media on Aranda recently.
Manchester City owners in pole position to sign highly-rated African talent
“He’s very young. Imagine the future he has ahead of him. He’s eager, he’s confident and good in one-on-one situations. He’s a very interesting player.”
Despite heavy interest from Italian sides Como and Parma, CFG owners have a minor advantage over their competition.
Neither Como nor Parma have ever made a signing from Boca Juniors under current management. However, CFG have secured three loan moves in the past from the Argentine side.
There was a change in leadership in 2023 but Manchester City’s ownership group are clearly familiar and have prior business relationships they can leverage when it comes to signing Aranda.
