Manchester City reject €30 million bid from Nottingham Forest for Rico Lewis | OneFootball

Manchester City have rejected a €30 million (£25.8 million) bid from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest for the young right-back Rico Lewis.

According to Foot Mercato, Forest’s offer was a guaranteed €25 million plus an additional €5 million in performance-related add-ons.

Manchester City have declined the proposal, signalling their intent to keep Lewis for the upcoming season.

The 20-year-old, who joined Manchester City’s senior team in 2022, has been highly regarded for his versatility and tactical adaptability.

While primarily a right-back, Lewis can also play in defensive midfield or on the left side of defence.

City’s refusal to part ways with Lewis is hardly surprising, given how light they are in the right-back position.

Pep Guardiola’s side let go of Kyle Walker earlier this summer and have failed to bring in a replacement, albeit not for a lack of trying, as they showed interest in Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento.

Providing cover for Matheus Nunes, who is expected to be first choice, Lewis is likely to become a more prominent figure for City next season.

With three years left on his current deal, Lewis has not shown any desire to leave the Etihad Stadium, and Forest will likely have to look elsewhere.

The Tricky Trees are closing in on a deal to sign James McAtee from Man City, but their pursuit of Lewis is unlikely to yield any positive outcome.

Meanwhile, City are preparing for a frenetic end to the window to make up for some already confirmed departures within the squad and some impending ones.
