Manchester City’s wider football operation could now see another internal shift as Troyes prepare for their return to the French top-flight.
City Football Group‘s French side are heading back to Ligue 1 after a major turnaround under Antoine Sibierski‘s stewardship. However, Sibierski has now departed to become the sporting director of Belgian side Anderlecht.
With Troyes in need of reshaping their football structure, the door has opened for a Manchester City scout to step into a more senior role under the CFG umbrella.

According to Foot Mercato, City scout Brendan MacFarlane is set to become Troyes‘ interim sporting director.
MacFarlane joined Manchester City in April 2023 as European Regional Scouting Manager. His previous jobs involved leading the scouting department at Toulouse.
The Irishman also previously worked as a scout for Brentford. Regardless, his move to Troyes is expected to be temporary.
The French outfit are likely searching for a stable director but it will be interesting to see if MacFarlane ends up taking the role permanently.
MacFarlane looks like a natural fit for Troyes, considering his experience in the French market. Before joining City, he also worked as Brentford’s lead scout in France.
