Manchester City sign Arsenal forward Mead | OneFootball

Manchester City have completed the signing of Arsenal forward Beth Mead on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens just a short time ago.

The 31-year-old has signed a three-year deal at The Joie Stadium. She will officially become a Manchester City player when her contract with current club Arsenal expires at the end of the month.

Mead spent almost a decade with Arsenal in which she made more than 250 appearances for the club in all competitions. The forward won the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, UEFA Women’s Champions League, Barclays Women’s Super League and three Subway Women’s League Cups with The Gunners.

On the international stage, Mead has been capped by England on 81 occasions in which she has scored 40 goals. She has won two UEFA Women’s EURO titles, the SheBelieves Cup and the Arnold Clark Cup with the Lionesses.

After agreeing to join Manchester City, Mead said “I’m very proud to be here. Obviously, City had an amazing season last year and I am excited to start a new chapter here.

“I think the way City plays suits me really well, and I feel like it can get something extra out of my game.

“Speaking to the manager, I think it was a place where I think I can really fit into, help and bring a different dynamic to the team, so it was a no-brainer for me.”

Mead is Manchester City’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
