Manchester City face Arsenal today at the Emirates Stadium. Although the game comes early in the 25/26 season, it is a crucial Premier League fixture. Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to continue the momentum they’ve built with wins over Manchester United and Napoli in their past two matches. Mikel Arteta’s side will be looking to prove they are a level above City this season. The scene is set for a titanic tussle in London today. Here is the latest City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven for today’s match.

Latest Manchester City injury news.

Omar Marmoush, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Mateo Kovacic are all ruled out of today’s match due to injury. None of the players listed above is expected back from injury in the immediate future. John Stones has trained recently, but it remains to be seen if he will be included in the Manchester City squad for today’s match.

The biggest selection dilemma for Pep Guardiola surrounds Rodri. Manchester City’s midfield general has started each of City’s past two matches. He played 60 minutes before he was substituted against Napoli. Rodri said after City’s win over the Serie A champions that he is trying to be smart in terms of looking after his body. Whether or not Pep Guardiola decides to start Rodri for a third game in a week remains to be seen.

Predicted City starting eleven.

Gianluigi Donnarumma: It is almost a lock that Donnarumma will start in goal for Manchester City.

Abdukodir Khusanov: Khusanov and his pace at right-back will be crucial today against Arsenal.

Ruben Dias: Alongside Josko Gvardiol,  Dias seems to be a certain starter in the heart of City’s defence.

Josko Gvardiol: See above. The same applies to Gvardiol as it does with Ruben Dias.

Nico O’Reilly: I expect O’Reilly to start at left-back. If he does, it will be one of the biggest tests of his young career. He has the talent and temperament for the occasion.

Rodri: I expect Rodri to start if his body is willing. If he starts, he will have a pivotal role to play in midfield.

Tijjani Reijnders: The Dutch international played well against Napoli. His forward runs from midfield could be key to unlocking Arsenal’s defence.

Bernardo Silva: I expect Bernardo Silva to start on the right wing. It would be a major surprise if he didn’t.

Phil Foden: Foden has returned to his best in Manchester City’s past two matches. He could be the most important player for Pep Guardiola’s side today. If he fires in midfield, he could lead his side to a precious three points.

Jeremy Doku: Doku looks to have turned a corner regarding his form and end product. If he continues his impressive recent form at the Emirates, he could have a key role to play.

Erling Haaland: Haaland is in form and looms over today’s match. If he can bring his best against the tough Arsenal defence it may well decide today’s match.
