Manchester City vs Brentford: Latest City injury news and predicted City starting eleven

Manchester City take on Brentford today at the GTech Community Stadium in City’s seventh Premier League fixture of the season. Pep Guardiola’s side enters today’s match off the back of a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions. They will be determined to enter the upcoming international break full of confidence by picking up all three points today. They’ll face a tough test against a Brentford side who are strong at home. Keith Andrews’ side has beaten Aston Villa and Manchester United at home, and they also drew 2-all with Chelsea at the GTech Community Stadium. They will pose a tough test for a Manchester City team that is showing signs that they are developing into a Pep Guardiola side.

Here is the latest City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven ahead of today’s match.

Latest Manchester City injury news.

As it stands currently, Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri will all miss today’s match against Brentford. Each player isn’t expected back from injury until after the international break. In good news for City, Rayan Cherki has travelled with the City squad for today’s match. Erling Haaland revealed that news via social media yesterday. Whether or not Cherki participates in today’s match remains to be seen.

Predicted City starting eleven.

Gianluigi Donnarumma: Donnarumma seems to be a sure starter in goal for Manchester City today.

Matheus Nunes: John Stones started at right-back against AS Monaco. I expect Matheus Nunes to start today as his pace and ability to get forward could be crucial.

Ruben Dias: Dias should start at centre-back today, and he will have a vital role to play against Brentford’s powerful attack.

Josko Gvardiol: Gvardiol is a certain starter today. He is one of Manchester City’s most important players and should be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Nico O’Reilly: It is hard to see anyone else starting at left-back than Nico O’Reilly. He has made the position his own and deserves to start.

Rodri: If Rodri is fully fit, I expect him to start in midfield.

Tijjani Reijnders: The Dutch international is growing into his role in Pep Guardiola’s side. He should start in midfield.

Phil Foden: Foden has been superb during Manchester City’s past six matches. He typically plays well against Brentford, and if he plays well today, he could decide the match.

Savinho: After signing a contract extension this week, the time is now for Savinho to go up a gear as a player. I expect him to start on the right wing at the GTech Community Stadium.

Jeremy Doku: The Belgian winger only played an hour against AS Monaco. He should start on the left wing and could be a pivotal player against Brentford.

Erling Haaland: Manchester City’s number-nine is in supreme form right now. If City can create the chances Haaland needs today, he could break today’s game wide open.
