Manchester City return to action today as domestic football returns after the recent international break. Up next for Pep Guardiola’s side is an FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium today. City will be eager to book their place in yet another FA Cup semi-final with a win today. They’ll take on a Liverpool side that they have beaten twice in the Premier League this season. Arne Slot’s side have had a disappointing 2025/26 season and they’ll be hoping for a good result today to hopefully jolt them into life late in the season.
Here in the latest Manchester City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven ahead of today’s FA Cup quarter-final clash.
There is one player who will today’s match for Manchester City. Josko Gvardiol will not feature today as he continues his recovery from the right tibial fracture he sustained against Chelsea at the beginning of this year. However, the Croatian international is on the verge of stepping up his recovery and he is expected to resume running in the not to distant future.
John Stones returned early from international duty to due to a calf injury. As of right now there has been no further update on Stones’ condition. The England international is in doubt for today’s match due to that particular injury.
Ruben Dias missed Manchester City’s Carabao Cup final win over Arsenal due to a hamstring injury. Manchester City’s defensive leader has had two weeks to recover from the issue, but his availability for today’s match won’t likely be known until the team lineups are announced.
Outside of those three players, Pep Guardiola will have a strong squad to choose from for today’s match. The expectation, fitness willing of course, is that Guardiola will pick a strong lineup for today’s match at the Etihad Stadium.
