Manchester City and Manchester United were rebuffed in their initial attempts for Andrea Cambiaso and Patrick Dorgu, but Juventus and Lecce aren’t out of the woods yet and might soon have a decision to make about their star fullbacks.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Sky Blues could table a new bid for the Juventus defender in the next couple of days. It could amount to €55/60M, while the Old Lady asks for at least €70M. Their director Cristiano Giuntoli recently stated that they weren’t looking to sell in January.

Lecce said the same about Dorgu, but, like Manchester City for Cambiaso, Manchester United will up their offer to over €30M, Fabrizio Romano reports. The previous one was €27M, which wasn’t enough to entice the Salentini. It doesn’t help that they are 17th with a very narrow lead over the relegation zone.

As for the Old Lady, they have scheduled a meeting with Feyenoord for February to seal the summer acquisition of David Hancko well in advance to beat out the competition. They would have liked to nab him in January already, but the door was slammed shut.

Our Take on Manchester City and Manchester United Eyeing Cambiaso and Dorgu

The two pursuits will go down to the wire, and the Red Devils have better chances of being successful. It’d be a great chunk of change for a minnow despite their logical resistance. Juventus would be operating very differently on the transfer market if they were on the verge of filling their coffers, instead, they are primarily seeking cost-effective acquisitions for now. There’s always time to pivot, but it’s getting late.
