Manchester United hoping to top Champions League table

Marc Skinner’s Manchester United side has enjoyed more success than any other WSL team in Europe this season.

With three wins from their first four games in the Champions League, United have already secured a spot in the knockouts with two games to go.

But qualification isn’t enough for Skinner and his team, as they believe that they can top the group stage.

“When you play at Man United, we’re different to everybody else.” Skinner said. “We have this just inner ability to believe in each other and that can create miracles. So, for us tomorrow, I think if we can just do that, we’ll be proud of what we put out on the field and then who knows, maybe that [being top of the league table] can be the reality after the game.”

Despite facing an unbeaten Lyon side this week, United aren’t afraid of facing one of the best sides in Europe.

“Honestly, the whole reason to take on a team of this incredible talent is exactly why we’re here. We wanted to pitch ourselves against the best teams in the world, let alone in Europe. So, I think Lyon are one of those. So, really excited.”

Lyon have plenty of exciting talents within their ranks and they will have to look out for Jule Brand who has been impressive this season.

Marc Skinner provides injury update

Manchester United will be without two key players for Wednesday’s clash against Lyon.

Celin Bizet announced her pregnancy at the beginning of December and will be out of the team indefinitely.

Elisabeth Terland is the other absentee but she misses out for a different reason as Skinner explained.

“Only Teri will be missing, [she] took a knock in the game [on Sunday], so Elisabeth Terland will be out for this one, but everybody else is fit and healthy and up for selection.”

In Terland’s absence Melvine Malard is likely to start up front. With two goals in the group stage, Malard is currently United’s top scorer in the Champions League.
