Manchester United are among a host of European giants preparing for a transfer battle over teenage prodigy Rafael Belinho. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has drawn comparisons to Neymar thanks to his explosive flair and exceptional close control.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Belinho has taken an unconventional but calculated path through European youth football. After leaving Vasco da Gama for Croatia, he recently made headlines by rejecting a restrictive long-term contract at Dinamo Zagreb.

Instead, he made a strategic switch to lower-tier side NK Kustosija. Backed by influential agent and club investor Andy Bara—who famously orchestrated Mika Faye’s lucrative transfer to Barcelona—Belinho’s temporary move allows him to develop under elite supervision before a high-profile switch to a European heavyweight when he turns 18 next January.

Old Trafford officials are determined to make Manchester United Belinho’s next destination. Under INEOS ownership, United have attempted to secure the world’s finest emerging talent before their market value soars, having already agreed a future deal for Colombian prospect Cristian Orozco.

However, landing Belinho will mean outmanoeuvring fierce global competition. Barcelona are both keen on the dynamic playmaker, with sporting director Deco reportedly flying to Croatia last year to hold talks with the player’s family.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund have welcomed Belinho’s representatives to Germany to present their renowned development plan, while Real Madrid also remain attentive to his progress.

While post-Brexit regulations prevent English clubs from registering Belinho until his 18th birthday in 2027, United are eager to put themselves in prime position to sign the Brazilian starlet, after which a pathway to first-team football can be mapped out.
