Manchester United have confirmed the signing of exciting young goalkeeper Kit Margetson.
The 20-year-old has joined the Red Devils after the end of his contract at Championship club Swansea City.
United have agreed a compensation package with the Swans for the teenager, with the Welsh club entitled to remuneration because of their role in developing the player.
Margetson, who is the son of former England goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson, had been with Swansea since under-15s.
He didn’t make his first-team debut with the Championship club but got the first taste of senior football last season on loan at Cymru Premier outfit Connah’s Quay Nomads.
Margetson made 34 appearances across all competitions, helping them qualify for the Europa League.
United made a slow start to the summer window, but transfer activity at Old Trafford has picked up significantly in recent weeks.
They have wrapped up deals for midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, while Karl Darlow has also joined on a free transfer.
Michael Carrick’s side are still looking to add a third midfielder, and have identified Roma’s Manu Kone as their preferred target.
Signing a new left-back is a priority, as Tyrell Malacia has left and Patrick Dorgu is expected to be deployed in a more advanced attacking role.
The Red Devils could also add an elite winger to the squad if Marcus Rashford ends up leaving the club this summer.
