In a recent report, The Sun stated that Manchester United are facing stiff competition for Metz starlet Idrissa Gueye. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils would have to rival Brentford, Southampton, Burnley and Borussia Dortmund in the race to land the Senegalese talent this summer.
Gueye is a product of Generation Foot’s youth system and has been brilliant since joining Metz at the start of this calendar year. The Senegalese whizkid participated in 20 matches for the French outfit in the previous campaign, netting six goals and picking up one assist across all competitions.
At the moment, the Mbour-born prospect is amongst the best young forwards in Europe. Thus, Man United would do well to lure Gueye away to Old Trafford this off-season.
The Senegalese attacker is under contract at Metz until the summer of 2029 which could make it difficult for the Mancunian club to get a deal done for him on the cheap in this transfer period.

Gueye can find some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can be a decent goal-getter in the final third and can engineer the odd chance for others around him up top.
The Senegalese youngster is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area. Gueye is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player if required. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if Man United manage to bring him on board this summer.
Gueye is already good enough to serve as a decent rotational piece in Ruben Amorim’s squad. He has the potential to be a future star in English football. Hence, it makes sense for the Red Devils to step up their efforts to land him in this transfer window.
At 18, Gueye is undoubtedly a star in the making and would be a great signing for the Mancunian outfit in the long run. However, Amorim has to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the gifted youngster.
