In a recent segment on Youtube, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Manchester United are in discussions to land Eintracht Frankfurt talent Hugo Ekitike. It has been stated that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the French striker in this summer transfer window.

Ekitike’s Impressive Record In German Football

Ekitike had a great campaign at the German club recently after he produced a lot of fruitful performances as the spearhead of their attack. The Reims-born talent registered 22 goals and earned 12 assists in 48 matches for Frankfurt last season in various competitions.

The 22-year-old deserves a ton of credit for averaging 4.0 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He kept 38.6% of his attempts on target. Ekitike even distributed possession relatively well in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 75.5% in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

Ekitike is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2029 which could make it difficult for Man United to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer period.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Go For Ekitike?

Ekitike excels at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to unlock the opposition’s defence with a killer pass in the final third.

The French striker can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. Standing at 1.90m, he is a strong presence in the air as well. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if the Red Devils move in for him this summer.

We can expect him to inject more quality into Man United head coach Ruben Amorim’s attack. He is good enough to nail down a regular starting spot at Old Trafford next season.

At 22, Ekitike has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, it is only logical for Man United to go for a player of his skill set this off-season. However, Amorim has to give him some time before he can unlock the best out of the talented forward at the Theatre of Dreams.
