In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Manchester United are in pole position to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. It has been claimed that the Red Devils have identified the Italy international as a main target for this summer transfer period.

Tonali’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

The Lodi-born talent enjoyed a solid campaign at the Tyneside club as he was responsible for putting in a string of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. Tonali played in 53 matches for Eddie Howe’s side last season, netting three goals and picking up seven assists across all fronts.

The 26-year-old is currently one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League. Thus, Man United would do well to win the race for his services this summer.

Tonali is under contract at St. James’ Park until the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Should Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick Get Tonali On Board?

Tonali loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a good passer as well.

The Italian sensation can contribute by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team from midfield. Tonali is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so. He has got plenty of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Old Trafford.

Tonali would no doubt enhance the quality of Man United boss Michael Carrick’s midfield. He is more than capable of competing for a regular starting place at the Theatre of Dreams next season.

At 26, Tonali’s peak years are ahead of him and has what it takes to be a success story at the Mancunian club. He will also help Man United compete for some major trophies over the next few years. With all things considered, Carrick would be wise to go all out to get him on board before the end of this transfer window.
