In a recent report, journalist Dean Jones revealed that Manchester United are showing interest in Nottingham Forest ace Elliot Anderson. It has been stated that the Red Devils are facing stiff competition from Manchester City in the race to land the English midfielder next year.
Anderson is having a decent campaign at the Midlands club as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The English talent has scored one goal and earned one assist in 22 matches for Nottingham this season in various competitions.
The 23-year-old has offered solid protection for his teammates at the back and deserves credit for making 48 tackles, 32 blocks, 19 interceptions and 17 clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball accurately from midfield after completing 82.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the City Ground will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Man United to sign him on the cheap next year.

Anderson is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and has got the vision to create some decent plays for others around him in the final third.
The English sensation is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a left-winger or play in the number ten position if needed. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man United if Ruben Amorim can devise a way to bring him on board next year.
At 23, Anderson will only get better with each season, which makes him a great option for the Red Devils in the long run. We can expect him to bring more quality and depth to Amorim’s midfield department.
Anderson is more than capable of securing a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford. Hence, the Red Devils would be wise to move in for him this January or next summer.
