Manchester United have been handed a boost ahead of their Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Red Devils are looking to secure three consecutive league victories when they host the Seagulls following back-to-back wins over Sunderland and Liverpool.
Brighton have won all their last three games at Old Trafford but could be without creator-in-chief Kaoru Mitoma for the trip to face Man United.
The Japanese is a doubt for Saturday’s game due to an ankle issue, which could be good news for head coach Ruben Amorim and his men. Mitoma scored and assisted to help Brighton to a 3-1 victory over Man United at Old Trafford the last time both clubs met in January.
The Japanese attacker has been a constant thorn in the flesh for the Red Devils’ defence anytime they meet, and not having to face him tomorrow could be relieving for the hosts.
Nothing is decided yet as the Seagulls still have to make a late decision on his availability, but things are not currently looking good as far as his fitness is concerned.
The 28-year-old left-winger missed the last two matches with a left-ankle injury and Man United will hope he sits out of the match tomorrow as they could do with not having to face him.
Nevertheless, the Red Devils will fancy their chances against Brighton even if Mitoma is available for selection given their impressive form over the last two games.
They will be desperate to prove that the wins over the Black Cats and Reds were no flukes, and getting the better of the Seagulls tomorrow will be a huge boost.
The last time Man United won three Premier League games in a row was in February 2024, and Amorim will hope they can deliver this weekend.
