Manchester United are assessing goalkeeper options, Wolves face fading hopes of moving Marshall Munetsi to Paris FC, and Aston Villa are monitoring Cody Gakpo’s situation at Liverpool.
The Athletic reports United are considering their former academy product Johnstone among several targets, with back-up Altay Bayindir likely to depart this window. Teamtalk says Liverpool are not actively looking to sell Gakpo at present.
Leeds keeper Karl Darlow is also under consideration and is due to become a free agent when his Elland Road contract expires at the end of the month. Both Darlow and Johnstone would be homegrown, something United must factor in when submitting their Champions League squad.
Munetsi’s proposed permanent switch to Paris FC is understood to be fading, with reports in Paris suggesting the chances are very low. The Zimbabwe midfielder spent the second half of the season on loan in France after being deemed surplus by Rob Edwards. Wolves are likely to seek another destination, and the 29-year-old has two years left on his Molineux deal.
Tottenham, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are also claimed to be tracking Gakpo. His future is in some doubt following the exit of Arne Slot from Anfield and uncertainty over his role with new Reds boss, Andoni Iraola. The situation could change later in the summer.
