Manchester United could look to sign an experienced striker this summer, according to Ben Jacobs.

Man United manager Michael Carrick wants competition and cover for Benjamin Sesko, and could look to bring another number 9 to the Old Trafford club.

Danny Welbeck, Ivan Toney and Igor Thiago are some of the strikers the Red Devils have on their radar should they look to make a concrete move for someone in the position.

Toney and Thiago are currently at the World Cup, while calls were made for Welbeck to be included in the England squad after finishing last season with 13 goals in 37 Premier League games for Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 35-year-old has been linked with a return to Man United several times and it remains to be seen whether something concrete will happen this summer.

Toney was also on the club’s radar before moving to the Saudi Pro League from Brentford in 2024.

The 30-year-old bagged 32 goals in 32 league games for Al-Ahli last season having notched 23 league goals in 30 games in his debut campaign.

A return to the Premier League to play for Man United could appeal to Toney, with Champions League football available at the Theatre of Dreams next term.

Thiago remains on the radar of the Red Devils after the 24-year-old Brazil international bagged 25 goals across all competitions in 2025-26.

He also brings much-needed experience and quality to the table and could be an upgrade on Sesko.

Man United need a top number 9 if they are to challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title next season and impress in the Champions League.
