Manchester United return to action on Sunday at Old Trafford when they host Liverpool and Red Devils manager Michael Carrick has been handed an injury boost ahead of the big game.
Matheus Cunha has returned to training after missing the Premier League game against Brentford on Monday night.
The Man United star missed the match due to a knock following scans last week.
Carrick told the press on Monday that Cunha had a bit of a sore hip flexor after the Chelsea game and while it appeared that he could make the matchday squad for the game, he did not recover in time.
The Red Devils missed his creativity against the Bees but will have him back against Liverpool in a huge boost.
A win against the Reds (or even a draw depending on results elsewhere) will see Man United qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Cunha has eight goals and two assists in 30 league appearances so far this term and has been a key player since joining the Old Trafford club from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer.
The 26-year-old has registered four goal contributions in his last six league appearances, and the Red Devils could do with his influence against Liverpool.
The Merseyside club are just three points behind Man United in the table and will be desperate to leave the Theatre of Dreams with all three points.
A tough clash is on the cards given the rivalry between both clubs, and a win and a top performance will help boost Carrick’s chances of landing the job permanently.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has reportedly emerged as a contender to become the next Man United permanent boss, and another statement victory on Sunday will be good for Carrick.
Cunha and co will be raring to go against Liverpool, and returning to the Champions League with three games to spare will be good for the club.
