In a recent interview with the Express, former Premier League keeper Ben Foster urged Manchester United to land Robert Lewandowski. Foster said,

“I think Man United need three or four, maybe even five players. They need a couple of big midfielders, they need a couple of big defenders, and if they can get a killer striker, then they will genuinely be threatening next season.

“Lewandowski’s on a free transfer, he’s leaving Barcelona at the end of this season.

“Somebody like that, Man United have got a massive history of signing these sort of players on one-year deals, just bringing that level of experience.”

“And I think having somebody like that come through the door, I mean, it really sets the tone for a lot of the young lads that are coming through. They get to see what the level is like, they get to see the professionalism of a Robert Lewandowski.”

Lewandowski’s Impressive Season In La Liga

The 37-year-old has enjoyed a productive campaign at the Catalan club after putting in a run of impressive performances as the focal point of their attack. Lewandowski has banged in 19 goals and earned four assists in 46 matches for Barcelona this season in all competitions.

The Polish talent is currently one of the most experienced and proven centre-forwards in La Liga. Therefore, Man United would do well to lure him to Old Trafford in this upcoming transfer window.

His current contract at the Nou Camp will run out at the end of next month, which could open the door for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick Snap Lewandowski Up?

Lewandowski can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third and is a strong runner with the ball.

Standing at 1.86m, the Poland international is a strong presence in the air as well. However, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to get a deal over the line for him this summer.

We can expect Lewandowski to bring more firepower to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s frontline. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team place at Old Trafford next season.

At 37, Lewandowski might still have a couple of good seasons left in him to play at a high level. Thus, it makes sense for Man United to snap him up on a free transfer later this year.
