Manchester United are interested in signing Hertha Berlin midfielder Kennet Eichhorn, according to German outlet Sport Bild.
The Red Devils have been linked with Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, but they could be tricky to sign.
Man United have watched Eichhorn in Bundesliga 2 a couple of times, but they are not the only club keen on a player who has been likened to Toni Kroos.
Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayer Leverkusen have also scouted him/
Hertha are open to selling Bundesliga 2’s youngest-ever player for around €20 million, which is a fee Man United could be willing to spend if manager Ruben Amorim is convinced of his quality.
The young defensive midfielder has started seven of the nine games he has featured in this season. His side have won five of those matches.
The physicality of German football cannot be compared to the Premier League, but Eichhorn has the potential to make the step up.
Whether Man United will be keen to take the punt on such a young player is unclear, as they have more experienced targets on their mind ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils could see him as one for the future, as Amorim needs a midfielder capable of making an instant impact in his team.
