Manchester United like Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott and talks have been held to assess the overall cost of signing him, according to The Athletic.

Man United are looking to bring two or three midfielders to the Old Trafford club this summer, and the 22-year-old England international has emerged as a worthy target.

Scott’s energy and ability on the ball are some of the qualities the Red Devils could do with in the middle of the park.

The youngster and Kobbie Mainoo could form an excellent midfield partnership for Man United as manager Michael Carrick looks to turn the team into credible title challengers.

However, Scott is not the only Bournemouth star the Old Trafford club are looking at.

Tyler Adams is also a target, and Man United are in touch to understand the cost of signing him, which might be around £40 million.

Only Casemiro averages more than the 27-year-old USMNT international’s 4.8 ‘true’ interceptions (interceptions plus blocked passes) per 1,000 opposition touches this season.

Adams could be a key asset in helping to protect the Red Devils’ defence if signed.

The Bournemouth duo could be open to a move, but nothing has been finalised yet as Man United’s recruitment staff are surveying several options.

Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, Atalanta’s Ederson, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali, Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney and Southampton’s Shea Charles are also targets.

The Red Devils have to get things right this summer as the players they sign will determine whether they will be able to win any major silverware next season or anytime soon.

Man United have impressed under Carrick and the soon-to-be permanent manager now has to prove his mettle as he heads into his first full season in charge of the club.
