Bayer Leverkusen and Germany centre-back Jonathan Tah has been a top target for FC Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and a move to Barça has been in the works for quite some time now.
However, the Catalans’ Financial Fair Play situation has meant that they have been able to fully close the deal yet despite having a verbal agreement, leaving the door open for other clubs to attempt a hijack.
As such, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany now reports that Manchester United have entered the race to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen.
In fact, the Premier League outfit have already held talks with the German international’s management over a potential transfer in the summer.

Barcelona, for their part, definitely wish to bring Tah to the club before next season but the 29-year-old has yet to sign with them.
The growing list of suitors for the defender could potentially complicate matters for the La Liga leaders.
After all, as reported earlier today, Bayern Munich are also accelerating their efforts to beat Barcelona to Tah’s signing.
Meanwhile, the Blaugrana’s arch-rivals, Real Madrid, are also among the centre-half’s potential suitors. With Xabi Alonso set to be named their new manager, Los Blancos may even have an advantage.
So, it goes without saying that Barcelona will need to step up and make their move if they are serious about signing Tah or risk losing him, with other teams also holding talks with his camp.
