Former England & Man United icon Wayne Rooney has openly questioned the leadership of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk claiming the pair are not showing the right mentality during Liverpool’s recent slump.

Liverpool have lost five of their last 6 matches across all competitions including 3-2 defeat to Brentford in the Premier League leaving Arne slot's side in deep trouble both domestically and in Europe.

Rooney said to BBC Sport, the current atmosphere around the squad reflects deeper issue among senior players:

"Nobody expected things to go this bad, this fast. They’re struggling to find way out and this is period where they need strong leadership"

He then pointed fingers at the club’s 2 biggest star:

"Since signing their new contracts, I don’t think Salah and Van Dijk have led the team as they should. Their body language says a lot and it’s not positive"

Rooney added that attitude & presence on the pitch are crucial when team is under pressure:

"If your body language isn’t right, it affects the whole team. I might be wrong but if I were fan or the coach, I’d be worried".
