Manchester United have made an offer for Blackburn Rovers forward Igor Tyjon, as per reports.
United are heading into their most significant spell of the campaign as the result of the two-legged semi-final tie against Athletic Club could have a big say on the club’s summer recruitment plans.
If the Red Devils progress to the final and win the Europa League, they will secure Champions League qualification and, with it, a revenue boost. A bigger transfer war chest would allow Ruben Amorim to bring in more quality players to strengthen his side.
However, as far as the club’s youth setup is concerned, Ineos, who intend to add up-and-coming talents to the club’s ranks, have started making significant moves without waiting for the season to unfold.
Earlier this week, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming French starlet Enzo Kana-Biyik will travel to Manchester imminently to sign his United contract. Further, it is understood that the Premier League giants are also planning to submit an offer for River Plate prodigy Franco Mastantuono.
Now RoversXtra – a source with close ties to Ewood Park – claim United are also pushing to sign Tyjon from the Championship outfit.
It is reported that the Mancunians have submitted a bid between £800,000-£1.2 million for the England U17 international.
The versatile forward, who is also capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, made his senior debut for Blackburn early in the season.
He signed a scholarship contract with Blackburn last year and is tied to the club until the summer of 2026. However, it is suggested that personal terms are unlikely to be an issue for United as he is open to the move.
The wonderkid has earned plaudits for his bravery in possession. He is very composed with the ball at his feet and regularly looks to take on his man and get his team up the pitch. The 17-year-old has notched four goals in seven Premier League 2 appearances this term.
It is added that the Old Trafford outfit face competition from Chelsea and Liverpool for Tyjon.
Blackburn, meanwhile, are trying to sign United academy midfielder Dan Gore and have already tabled a bid for the 20-year-old.
