Red Devils have one player in immediate danger of a Premier League suspension
Manchester United will hope to continue their upward trajectory when Premier League action resumes after the international break.
While it was a disappointing start to the season for Man Utd, crashing out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of League Two Grimsby in the second round a new low, they have managed to turn things around in recent weeks.
Currently on a five-match unbeaten run after salvaging a point in the 96th minute against Tottenham last time out, the Red Devils currently sit seventh in the Premier League table but just a point off Champions League qualification.
Man United face Everton, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Wolves and Bournemouth - teams currently below them in the table - in their next five games, so Ruben Amorim will know a lot more about his side’s hopes for the remainder of the campaign heading into the festive period next month.
One concern for United is the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations as Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo are all expected to be called up by Morocco, Ivory Coast and Cameroon respectively.
Furthermore, disciplinary issues could prove problematic for a potential top-four challenge. United have already had to deal with one suspension this season and some players are not far away from adding to that tally.
Man Utd have only received 12 bookings in 11 league matches so far, which is the second best record across the entire division. That said, they are one of only eight clubs to have had a player sent off when Casemiro was giving his marching orders in the 2-1 win over Chelsea.
Which Manchester United players are close to a suspension?
Players who pick up five yellow cards in the first 19 Premier League matches of the season will receive a one-match ban. The threshold for a suspension after that point in the campaign is raised to 10 bookings after 32 matches.
United have nobody serving a suspension for next Monday’s game at home to Everton and the match against Wolves on December 30 is the final game in which suspensions will be handed out for a fifth yellow card.
Patrick Dorgu is only one yellow card away from a ban and will miss the match against Crystal Palace on November 30 if booked against the Toffees.

Casemiro is next in line with three yellow cards to his name, while captain Bruno Fernandes is on two. Amad, Benjamin Sesko and Mazraoui are all on one yellow card, but their involvement over the festive period is in serious doubt regardless.
