Manchester United are interested in Como sensation Nico Paz, as per reports.
United’s strikers misfired all season, leading to the Red Devils finishing the Premier League campaign in 15th place. Among non-relegated sides, only Everton scored fewer goals than Ruben Amorim’s men.
It remains to be seen how the club’s hierarchy will strengthen their striker options, but it seems they are keen on adding creative players to ensure whoever leads the line next season gets plenty of chances to rattle the net.
The Mancunians have already agreed a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers playmaker Matheus Cunha, and have also convinced Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo to join their project. Both are expected to play behind the striker in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.
However, United are also monitoring Como attacking midfielder Paz.
According to CaughtOffside, United have been left “impressed” with Paz after scouting the 20-year-old Argentine.
Known for his ball-carrying ability and passing, Paz has emerged as one of Serie A’s most exciting attacking midfielders. He has notched six goals and nine assists in the league this term.
It is claimed United are “interested” in the Como star and “could make a move”. However, they are yet to make any approach.
Instead, it is Real Madrid, his former club, who are eager to re-sign him, with Xabi Alonso understood to be his huge fan.
Los Blancos appear open to triggering his €8m buy-back clause, but it is suggested Paz will not push for a move to Santiago Bernabeu if he is not assured a regular first-team place.
It is claimed that “this could perhaps give Man Utd a serious opportunity to move” for the Argentina international.
However, with Bruno Fernandes set to stay, United are unlikely to be able to offer a starting role to Paz if they sign both Cunha and Mbeumo. Interestingly, the ex-Real talent is also capable of playing as a centre-forward.
