Manchester United return to the negotiating table for Real Madrid midfielder | OneFootball

Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni has been linked with a departure this summer, not owing to poor performances but the club’s need to generate revenue.

Los Blancos have labelled the French defensive midfielder as a saleable asset should the right offer come in, and see the Premier League as his most likely destination in case of a departure.

Their asking fee, as matters stand, lies close to the €82 million mark, and they will negotiate should a similar offer arrive. Manchester United have been most closely linked with the player, although his wages and the fee have deterred their pursuit.

Back in the race

As reported by AS in a recent update, the Red Devils are back in the race for Tchouameni and once again see him as a priority target.

They had their eyes on Mateus Fernandes as an alternative midfield option this summer, but the player’s move to Tottenham Hotspur now forces them back to the negotiating table with Real Madrid.


United believe that Tchouameni is the best available replacement for Casemiro who left the club this summer and are thus expected to push hard for the signing now.

Concurrently, however, they are aware that the operation is anything but simple and that it will be an expensive affair. Only a substantial fee can lure the player out.

A complicated situation

While Real Madrid are open to offers for Tchouameni, there is also a school of thought that they will not let the player leave easily.

The transfer fee from his departure appeals to them, but so does his undeniable quality. So, any sale would only happen for a huge sum of money.

The player, for his part, does not wish to leave Real Madrid at this point in time and sees himself as having a lot left to give the club. He is determined to convince Jose Mourinho and make a case to be a regular starter.

Currently, Tchouameni is on duty at the FIFA World Cup and is expected to miss France’s next game through muscular discomfort. Real Madrid, needless to say, will hope his setback is nothing major and that he is back for the potential quarterfinal
