Manchester United set sights on Bologna star after missing out on Summerville | OneFootball

Manchester United are interested in signing Bologna star Jonathan Rowe. 

This is according to Corriere della Sera who claim Everton are also keen on the English forward. 

United boss Michael Carrick mainly Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu on the left wing last term, but he wants a specialist in that position for next season. 

Crysencio Summerville was identified as an ideal option, but they wanted to resolve Marcus Rashford’s future before making a move for the 24-year-old. 

This delay allowed Al Hilal to agree a £60m deal with West Ham, and the Dutchman is now poised to join the Saudi Pro League club. 

United could turn their attention towards Bologna’s Jonathan Rowe. 

The 23-year-old came through Norwich City’s youth academy and went on to make his competitive debut in December 2021. 

He didn’t set the house on fire during his time in Norwich, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in 56 appearances. 

The same is true about his subsequent spell at Ligue 1 club Marseille, where he scored only three goals in 31 matches. 

However, Rowe’s goalscoring output has improved since joining Bologna last summer. 

He struck eight goals and assisted five more in 44 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A club last season. 

United have already announced the signings of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Karl Darlow and Tynan Thompson. 

But they are looking to add a third midfielder and a new left-back before the end of the transfer window.
