Manchester United are on the verge of missing out on Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nathaniel Brown, with Bayern Munich close to reaching an agreement for him.
The 22-year-old German international had been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, as United look to strengthen their options at left-back.
Brown emerged as a target after a standout breakthrough 2025/26 season, in which he recorded four goals and six assists across all competitions.
Frankfurt placed a €65 million price tag on the ‘very creative‘ Brown, making a move by United unlikely and leaving Bayern Munich with a clear path.
The Bundesliga champions have now made a major breakthrough in negotiations with Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche.
Bayern have acted quickly to try to seal the deal before the upcoming World Cup in North America, where Brown is expected to play a key role for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
The defender has already agreed personal terms on a long-term contract at the Allianz Arena, motivated by a desire to develop under manager Vincent Kompany.
Brown’s imminent arrival in Munich will raise questions about the future of Alphonso Davies, who has struggled with injuries over the past 18 months.
United must now turn to alternative targets on their left-back shortlist.
Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall is an option, and United have also been linked with Marc Cucurella.
