Manchester United supporters blast club over season ticket clampdown | OneFootball

Manchester United are facing fresh criticism from supporters after a campaign aimed at tackling ticket touting left thousands of fans with suspended accounts and fears over the future of their season tickets.

The club recently stepped up its efforts to stop the illegal resale of match tickets, sending warning emails to supporters whose accounts were flagged during the investigation. 

Some fans were informed that their accounts had been suspended, while others were told they could lose their season tickets ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign if breaches were confirmed.

While some supporters agree that ticket touting is a serious issue that should be addressed, many fans believe the club’s approach has gone too far. 

Loyal fans have been caught up in the process without being given a fair chance to explain their situation.

The concerns have united several supporters’ organisations, including the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST), The 1958, The Red Army, dozens of official supporters’ clubs, and long-running fan publications Red News and United We Stand. 

They have collectively called on the club to pause its current suspension process and review how investigations are carried out.

“Long-standing supporters who have followed Manchester United for decades, often across multiple generations of the same family, should never feel they are being treated as suspects without clear evidence, due process or a meaningful opportunity to respond to the allegations made against them,” the groups said in a joint statement.

“The current approach has created a growing perception among supporters of a ‘Ban first and ask questions later’ process. That is not how trust is built, nor is it consistent with the standards of fairness that loyal supporters should expect from their football club.

“Investigations should establish the facts before sanctions are imposed, particularly where the potential consequence is the loss of a season ticket and relationships with the club built over many decades.”

United have also been criticised for reducing the discount available to older supporters, which many people believe has made attending matches less affordable. 

There have also been complaints about the rising ticket prices that have made matchday costs more expensive for supporters.
