Real Madrid and Vinicius Jr. have seemingly hit yet another roadblock in the negotiations over the player’s contract renewal just when matters appeared to be speeding up.
The Brazilian star and the club have been at odds on the financial terms of his renewal for a long time now, but it appeared that they were finally willing to meet in the middle and agree on a renewal a few weeks ago.
Since then, however, matters have again stalled and it is growing clearer that Vinicius’ future is not as clear as one would have expected. The club, after all, are said to be pushing for a sale this summer if the player does not reach an agreement with them.
Any club in Europe would be privileged to have a player of Vinicius’ calibre in their ranks, but as reported by Romain Molina, most clubs simply cannot afford the player.

Manchester United, on that front, are the only club that can accommodate Vinicius and financially assume a transfer for the Brazilian winger this summer.
Combining the signing-on bonus, the transfer fee, the commissions and the player’s salary which are all key financial investments, it is only the Red Devils who have a deep enough wallet and space on their roster.
Needless to say, this comes as a massive blow to Real Madrid because having only one eligible suitor for a departure-bound player puts pressure back on Los Blancos and places them in a weak negotiating position.
With the two parties clearly still at odds, Real Madrid have a clear stance on the Selecao star this summer – renew or leave.

A renewal remains the priority for both parties, but should an agreement not be reached, Real Madrid do not want the player at the club next season.
After all, his contract runs out next June, and allowing the player to stay and run down his contract will only help him leave as a free agent in 2027. Real Madrid want to avoid that situation at any cost.
The weeks after the winger’s return to Real Madrid will be key for his transfer saga and the final decision can be expected to be made soon. As matters stand, the ball is in Vinicius’ court.
