Manchester United are plotting a summer transfer move for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow, according to The Athletic.
They want an experienced back-up goalie next season and Darlow is set to be a free agent at the end of this month.
The 35-year-old Wales international is expected to leave Elland Road, although Leeds want to keep him.
A move to a club playing in the Champions League could appeal to Darlow, but more suitors are likely to join Man United in the race to sign him.
Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana are expected to leave the Red Devils this summer, and the club want the Welshman to provide cover for Senne Lammens.
The Leeds star, who was once dubbed ‘a great goalkeeper‘ by former Chelsea player Eden Hazard, could fancy his chances of becoming Man United’s first-choice.
Darlow dislodged Lucas Perri to make 22 Premier League appearances last season. He kept five clean sheets, conceded 27 goals and saved 63 of the 90 shots he faced.
The Red Devils also have Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Sam Johnstone as an option and have discussed signing him.
The former England international came through Man United’s academy and would also count towards their homegrown quota.
Johnstone has two years left on his Wolves contract, and a return to Old Trafford would appeal to him.
However, signing Darlow could be an easier option for the Red Devils given his contract situation.
