Manchester United are set to walk away from Victor Osimhen, with fee and Türkiye’s tax-boosted wages making a move unworkable despite his Super Lig form for Galatasaray.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the pursuit has effectively ended because the package is far beyond United’s budget.
United regard Benjamin Sesko as their long-term No. nine and have received no formal approach from Barcelona. Links are not being taken seriously after frustration over Marcus Rashford’s loan.
Barcelona have reportedly identified Sesko as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski. Julian Alvarez remains their priority for Hansi Flick and Deco, but difficulty negotiating with Atletico Madrid has pushed them towards alternatives.
Rashford’s future is in focus after his Camp Nou stint was not made permanent. Tottenham are serious suitors, with Roberto De Zerbi an admirer, and Spurs are exploring a bid below the £40m clause.
Rashford would prefer a United return or a move abroad, is open to a pay cut, but hesitant about joining a Premier League rival. United will not approve another Barcelona loan.
With Osimhen off the table, United want a balanced forward unit. A five-man shortlist includes Premier League-proven Jean-Philippe Mateta. They aim to avoid panic buys and build Champions League depth.
Further back, a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson is thought to be agreed, and talks continue for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes. Any Rashford funds could be reinvested. Pre-season begins against Wrexham.
